The waterway workhorses that keep marine commerce moving in the harbor and beyond are primarily operated by long established family-owned businesses headquartered in New York City.  The scene includes two McAllister tugboats and one Reinauer Tug / Barge Combination.

McAllister Towing Company, established 160 years ago, offers towing and other services along the U.S.. East Coast with a fleet of 60 tugboats. Reinauer Transportation Companies, established over 100 years ago is based in Staten Island and operates a fleet of 24 tugs and 24 barges.

NY Harbor is one of the largest natural harbors in the world.  The skyscrapers on the south end of Manhattan Island are in the distance.  To the left is end of the 315-mile Hudson River traveling down from the Adirondack-Mountains in upstate N.Y.  To the right is the East River, which eventually connects with Long Island Sound after passing a series of iconic bridges along the east side of Manhattan.
